We are no longer seeing patients in the clinic and instead are seeing all patients via phone call/telepsych program. If you already have an appointment set, please follow the instructions on how to see your provider below.
Additionally, for all patients, be sure to frequently wash your hands at home. Try to limit travel outside of your homes as much as possible (social distancing) and avoid contact with people until further notice.

Please have your phone able to accept phone calls from private numbers/the office phone. You must confirm your appointment when you receive your reminder call. Dr. Hyder will then call you at the number you have provided us at your appointment time. Please be patient if the call is not exactly at your scheduled time as she may be delayed from speaking with other patients. At the end of your appointment, you will be transferred to set up your next appointment.

Enter the patient's name when prompted. Then, please wait and your call will be connected. After your appointment, call the office phone number to set up your next appointment.
If there are technical difficulties through video chat, Chika will be calling from a blocked/private number or a number that appears as the office number. Please make sure your phone settings allow these types of calls and your number is updated in our systems.
FOR NEW PATIENTS:
You MUST submit your new patient paperwork, signed and dated, along with a picture or photocopy of your insurance and ID card to prior to your appointment. If you have not submitted your paperwork, your appointment will be cancelled.
YOU MUST PROVIDE YOUR COPAY PAYMENT BEFORE YOU CAN SCHEDULE YOUR APPOINTMENT
We are no longer accepting refill requests from pharmacies by phone, fax or e-mail. The goal is to renew all medications during office visits.
Patients taking long term medications must be seen at least every 3 months. At this visit, all prescriptions will be filled with sufficient refills to last until the next scheduled office visit.
We anticipate these types of requests will be rare as refill needs will be addressed during your office visit. It is important to understand this change will enable us to provide quality care as medication renewals outside the office visit require much research by the office staff to ensure the medication request is appropriate/accurate and that dosing is based on the latest lab results along with information obtained during the office visit.

Lafayette Psychiatric Services has been established to serve and grow in Hampton Roads providing consistent, quality psychiatric services and medication management to our diverse community. We are currently receiving new patients and request that you will consider LPS, having immediate openings and the ability to accommodate recent scheduling. With a smaller group we can provide a more intimate relationship with our patients and we are equipped to efficiently refer for identified needs of counseling/psychotherapeutic services as well as psychological testing.

Please call the office or email us during business hours to set up a new patient appointment or reschedule existing appointments, medication questions, or any other reason. You can leave a voicemail message for staff if all lines are busy.
We are available after hours for emergencies only through our office number. If you are having a medical emergency, please dial 911. We will return calls and reply email messages during business hours.
